During a recent appearance on Carter Efe’s show, Davido shared surprising background details regarding “B4 B4,” a standout track from his sixth studio album, Oriadé.
The Afrobeats icon explained that the record was not originally intended for him, revealing that it began as a collaborative effort between fellow Nigerian musicians Mayorkun and FOLA.
According to Davido, the pair had already finished the initial track before Mayorkun brought him in to add a verse. After hearing his contribution, Mayorkun offered to let Davido keep the song for his own project.
The origin story highlights the fluid, dynamic nature of the Nigerian music scene, where tracks frequently change hands and take on new forms before landing on a final project.

Davido further disclosed that “B4 B4” nearly missed the cut for Oriadé, as the project was already finalized and he remained on the fence about adding it until a close team member pushed him to reconsider.

He credited Israel DMW with convincing him to add the track, lightheartedly poking fun at his longtime associate for past music leaks while acknowledging his strong instinct for a hit.
