Following a wave of online backlash, Nigerian recording artist Mavo has publicly apologized for past social media posts that targeted various figures within the music industry, including stars like Davido and Ayra Starr.
The controversy ignited when older tweets resurfaced across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism from users over his former remarks. In response to the growing scrutiny, Mavo explained that his critical online behavior stemmed from his early university days, a mindset that shifted only after he redirected his energy entirely toward his own artistic journey.
Reflecting on the fallout, the singer admitted that his harsh commentary had unintentionally caused hurt, offering a sincere apology to those affected. He noted that stepping away from online criticism brought him personal peace and shared that subsequent meetings with some of the artists he once critiqued revealed they were remarkably different – and much more positive – than his initial online judgments implied. Concluding his statement, Mavo urged fans and critics alike to move forward with grace, emphasizing the message to “let love lead.”
