West Ham United have formally announced the dismissal of manager Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect, coming on the heels of an unsatisfactory start to their Championship season.
The club issued the statement on Tuesday, November 3, following an internal assessment of the team’s recent form and competitive results this term. The Hammers’ hierarchy determined that bringing in a new head coach was imperative to salvage their goals for the campaign.
Why did West Ham sack Nuno Espírito Santo?
Nuno’s exit follows back-to-back home losses against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. West Ham presently occupy eighth position in the Championship standings, having accumulated six victories, four draws, and three losses across their first 13 league fixtures.

The Portuguese coach was brought in during September 2025 to succeed Graham Potter, though he was unable to steer the side away from Premier League relegation last term. His departure additionally marks the exit of assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa, both of whom have also departed London Stadium.
In the interim, former West Ham skipper Mark Noble, alongside Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville, will take temporary charge of team preparations leading into Wednesday’s Championship clash with Cardiff City.
