Nigerian vocalist and composer Mayorkun has dropped his latest track, “Home Training,” accompanied by its official visualizer. The track’s rollout marks a major milestone for the artist, who is marking a decade in the music industry – a journey launched back in 2016 with his breakout release, “Eleko.”
“Home Training” was crafted by his frequent producer, Fresh VDM. Describing the concept behind the song, Mayorkun shared that it centers on romantic devotion capable of unlocking an entirely new aspect of one’s personality. He noted that navigating love sometimes requires balancing proper etiquette with knowing when to set polite decorum aside. The name draws inspiration from a common Nigerian term referring to moral upbringing and domestic manners.
The record acts as the intro track for his forthcoming mini-album, Long Live, The Mayor!, while his previously distributed single “Kaluba” is slotted as the project’s finale. By tying the EP reveal to his 10-year milestone, the singer turns the anniversary into a broader promotional era, with “Home Training” offering a primary preview of the upcoming body of work.
This release comes on the heels of an active period for the artist. He recently made an appearance on “Bumpy Ride” – the tenth song on Harmonize’s 14-track LP – following the earlier drop of “Kaluba.” These strategic guest features and singles have maintained his presence in the spotlight ahead of the EP.
