Mahalia Buchanan was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on April 30, 1991. The gospel singer first became known as a singer songwriter for the choir Joyous Celebration. She released her first solo album, “Redeemed to Worship”, in 2015. It won her Best Newcomer Award at the SABC Crown Gospel Awards. On October 21, 2018, she posted a photo with Israel Houghton and Tina Atkins-Campbell. When she was 12 years old, she joined Pastor Benjamin Dube’s choir. When she was 14, she recorded her first song, “Oh Bless Our God”.
