Arsenal supporters will be without star winger Bukayo Saka for several weeks after he suffered an injury during the club’s 5-0 victory over newly promoted Leeds United.
The impressive win saw new signing Viktor Gyökeres score a brace, his first goals for Arsenal, while Jurriën Timber also bagged two goals. Bukayo Saka, who had scored the second goal of the match, was forced off in the second half with a hamstring injury. The match was the Gunners’ first home game of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

While the convincing performance and goal-scoring heroics were major highlights, the only real negative of the day was the double injury blow to both Saka and club captain Martin Ødegaard, who also picked up a shoulder problem. Despite the perfect result, the injuries will be a concern for the team as they look ahead to upcoming fixtures.
How long will Bukayo Saka get ruled out?
Following their victory over Leeds United, Arsenal is awaiting updates on key players Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard, who both suffered injuries. Saka, who sustained a hamstring injury, is expected to be sidelined for up to a month, though there is a possibility he could return in time for the crucial match against Manchester City on September 21, 2025.
After the Leeds game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an initial assessment of the injuries, stating, “Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don’t know. We’ll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better. And Bukayo, while he was running with the ball, carrying the ball, wrestling with the defender, he felt something in his hamstring. So let’s see. I think it’s the other one. It’s not the same one as the previous injury.”
