Adekunle Gold continues his evolution from pop star to “cultural archivist” with Fuji Xtra, a five-track deluxe expansion of his sixth studio album.
The project is a deep dive into the percussive heart of Lagos, utilizing the call-and-response structures of traditional Fuji and Apala music. The centerpiece is “Formation,” a historic first collaboration between Gold and his former mentor, Olamide, which seamlessly blends street-rooted Yoruba lyricism with modern Afrobeats.
